Cancel the "Q&A with U.S Ambassador Alan Leventhal" at Copenhagen Business School

The Issue

In light of the current dire situation in Gaza, where Palestinian civilians are enduring relentless bombardment by Israeli forces, backed by the unequivocal support of United States President Joe Biden, this petition calls for the immediate cancellation of the event "Q&A with U.S. Ambassador Alan Leventhal" scheduled for November 7th at Copenhagen Business School. This request is directed towards the organizers of the event: Nikolaj Malchow-Møller, President of Copenhagen Business School, and Professor Leonard Seabrooke.

The U.S. Ambassador Alan Leventhal has shown public support for Israel's military bombardment of Gaza under the guise of Israel's right to "defend itself and protect its people" (1). The ambassador's presence at an educational institution like ours sends a message that we condone these actions and the US-funded military campaign against Gaza, where half of the population are children under 18.

Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is renowned for its core values, which include a commitment to equal rights and opportunities for all. However, hosting an event that provides a platform for a representative of a country that is directly funding and condoning the ongoing military actions of Israel against Palestinians is inconsistent with these principles.

As an institution of higher learning and responsible academic leaders, we cannot stand idly by while innocent Palestinians are suffering. It is our responsibility to ensure that our platforms are not used to endorse or normalize violence against innocent civilians.

Therefore, we urge Nikolaj Malchow-Møller and Professor Leonard Seabrooke to reconsider hosting this event. Let us show solidarity with the people of Gaza who are under genocidal attack by the Israeli state, with support and funding from the United States.

Please sign this petition if you agree that Copenhagen Business School should take a stand against endorsing figures who represent interests that go against the principles of peace, justice, and equality.
