Cancel The Petition that Wants To Change The Natlan’s Skin tones

The Issue

This petition is to go against the petition to change the skin tones for the Natlan characters that got announced.

As a person that understands people trying to find a reason to get diversity. I believe the way these people are doing it. Is wrong. They’re doing a racist petition against the skin tones of a character as if they were meant to be something else when they have no say or judgment on the skin tone the character gets.

I believe that Hoyoverse has no reason to accommodate the representation these people are demanding due to the fact that Natlan is a made up culture. Hoyoverse is doing what all creators/artist do. They use REFERENCES in real life, other games, etc to create something of their own. In this case they used cultures from Latin American, South African and Indonesian island cultures as a REFERENCE to make up what Natlan’s culture will be of. They create the culture as well as the characters the way they want it to be and they have every right to do so because it’s their game and they created it.

As for the names of the characters being from real life things. They don’t have to make the character look exactly like that real life thing. Reason I say this is because you can name a child (the character in this case) something like “Ororon” but is that child going to turn into a deity because he’s was named after him? Absolutely not. You can use a name from anywhere and create your own thing from it. Which is what they did with Ororon and Mavuka.

To sum it up. They used real stuff as a reference/inspiration for Natlan’s culture and they don’t owe us representation because it’s a work of fiction. It’s not real.

Should there be more diversity?
Yes, i believe having more diversity in a game is good for us as players.

Is the petition against the skin tones encouraging diversity?
It’s does not. It’s demanding diversity as if they deserve it and that’s entitled. It’s also encouraging racism towards pale toned people in the real world which is creating a divided world. Also they believe you have to be a certain race to be apart of that culture which is also racist.

This petition is a positive version to ENCOURAGE diversity in Genshin and not demand to change the characters they already made when they are beautiful the way they are. We want diversity but we don’t want to change the characters that were already made and announced.
