I am a relatively small creator on YouTube, and am 13 years old as of writing this. YouTube is supposed to be 13 and up, but have still decided to make lives harder for people under 18 that have a dream to create content on YouTube. You may be asking, "what's the big deal?" Well, they have decided to eventually put out an AI tool that detects users' search history, uploads (if their face is in them), and decide whether or not said user is under 18 or not. If the user is in fact under 18, multiple things will take place. The first thing is YouTube will start showing you non-personalized ads, meaning your ads that you get when watching videos or simply scrolling will not be targeted to your interests. This may seem like a good thing for some, but there are way worse consequences for being under 18 on YouTube. It will also enable "digital wellbeing tools" by default, which will include "take a break and bedtime reminders".  It will also give you "privacy reminders" when uploading or commenting publicly. It will also minimize recommendations for videos that could be "problematic when viewed in repetition. Meaning some of your favorite YouTubers will not be on your home page! And lastly, you can't view age-restricted content as well for obvious reasons. You can help with helping us cancel this update that violates our rights on the platform by telling all your friends and family members to sign this petition as soon as possible! This update will be effective on August 13th, 2025 in the USA only. And remember, you can make YouTube a better place today!
