My name is John Guevera, and I am very concerned about the safety of students traveling to school on January 28, 2026. On that day, we expect heavy snow and extreme cold, making travel dangerous for all students, including myself. 

The mounting piles of snow on sidewalks and roads significantly increase the risk of slipping and falling, leading to potential serious injuries. For students who drive or walk to their educational institutions, each journey becomes a hazardous endeavor. A simple trip to school could result in an accident due to these unsafe conditions.

Moreover, the freezing temperatures pose health risks, especially for those who have to wait outside for buses. Prolonged exposure to such low temperatures can lead to hypothermia or frostbite. Even brief exposure when dressing inadequately or spending time waiting at bus stops can significantly impact students' well-being.

This extreme weather not only affects immediate physical safety but also weakens immune systems, making students more susceptible to colds and flu. Schools that require attendance regardless of weather conditions inadvertently prioritize penalization for absences over student health. This is not only impractical but dangerous.

By cancelling school on this day, the administration would be prioritizing the health and safety of its students. It would demonstrate an understanding and compassion for the real threats posed by these weather conditions.

I urge the school district and local authorities to make the sensible decision to cancel school on January 28, 2026. Ensuring student safety and well-being should always be a top priority. Please protect the students by preventing unnecessary risk and hardship brought on by this extreme weather.
