Halloween often falls on a weekday or a school night, so some school districts such as Lake Travis ISD have canceled school on Halloween and November 1st. Unfortunately, schools in LISD still have school. This means instead of enjoying their holiday and staying up late to trick or treat, the students have to do school work, homework, and after all of that go to sleep early to avoid exhaustion during the next school day.

In order to have Halloween and November 1st off without surpassing the amount of days off from school it may work well to not have days off of school for holidays that are not celebrated by most people. Holidays that may work well to stop cancelling school for are Presidents day, because most adults don't get time off of work for it, and most people don't celebrate it much either. Another potential option is MLK day, due to the same reasons.

Having school on Halloween and November 1st prevents students from fully enjoying the holiday, and it can be stressful for student and parents to find the time finish work for school, host Halloween parties, and trick or treat after the school day.
