Cancel school for PWCS on February 13th due to extreme snow.

The Issue

I vividly recall one winter day where we received more than six inches of snow. Despite the hazardous conditions, my fellows and I were expected to attend school as if it was a usual day. This first-hand account is not singular, it's shared by countless bus riders who risk their safety during severe snowfalls. The situation is not just discomforting but truly unsafe for all bus riders, risking their lives and their families' peace of mind. Our current system fails to adequately address this issue. According to weather statisticians, there is a 90% increase in road accidents during heavy snowfall days (Federal Highway Administration). Imagine the impact of these conditions on large, unwieldy school buses, often with inexperienced adolescent riders on board.

That is why we urge the local school district to implement a day off on Thursday, feb 13th. This will ensure the safety of all the students, especially those dependent on bus transits. Sign now to protect the students from unnecessary risk.
