Thank you everyone for signing and sharing this petition to cancel Grassy Mountain.

Recently the Provincial UCP government in Alberta removed policy created in 1976 that put land into categories protecting more environmentally sensitive areas from open pit mining. This unprecedented shift took place with no consultation and was not part of the UCP's platform running up to the previous election.

Once we lose these places there is no amount of rehabilitation and reclamation that will be able to restore it to it's once pristine and natural beauty.

Once we contaminate head waters supplying Southern Alberta we have no way of ensuring these waters can ever be restored to previous safe drinking levels.

This policy was put in place in 1976 with the goal of protecting Albertan's from companies destroying our environment and watersheds for short term profits with no real long term gain for Alberta. The current government does not seem to respect Albertan's future to secure clean water and would rather offload our resources for a quick return leaving Alberta with a scarred and irreparable landscape.

Times have been tough. But destroying vast areas that were once protected for short term gain is going to leave Alberta worse off. And when these companies are done exploiting our resources and leave these landscapes unrecognizable and our watersheds contaminated who will be left cleaning up the damage? As we have seen many times companies rarely have to face the consequences and are often let go with minimal fines while leaving the bulk to be taken care of by taxpayers.

Further consultation will be ongoing this fall with Provincial and Federal regulators surrounding this project. Before it becomes to late and this project gets approved can you help to share this petition with as many Albertan's and Canadian's you know?

Together if we spread as much information and awareness, especially to those directly affected we might be able to save these lands for future generations to enjoy, save our environment and save our watersheds.

Again thank you to everyone who took the time to sign and read through all this.

Together we can make a change!
