Kwey Kwey, As my case heads toward the Ontario Provincial Court of Appeal soon, on February 11, 2016 I submitted a request to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada on the matter of Lynn Gehl v. HMQ. I wanted to know how much money has INAC / Aboriginal Affairs / Indigenous Affairs incurred having the Department of Justice defend the matter of unknown and unstated paternity and the Indian Act whereby INAC/Aboriginal Affairs/Indigenous Affairs assumes situations where a man’s (the father) signature is missing from a child’s long form birth certificate is a non-Indian man as defined by the Indian Act. As discussed elsewhere this policy / administrative assumption harms mothers and their children in several ways. On April 11th I received a response. Thus far the total amount incurred re Gehl v. HMQ is: $762, 827.48 For more information and to share this information on social media: http://www.lynngehl.com/freedom-of-information-request-re-gehl-v-hmq.html
