Say NO! To the proposal to slaughter 140,000 Grey Seals in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence over 5 years to increase fishing yields and create a market for seal products!

The Issue

Seals in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence have long been blamed by fisherman for eating too many commercially valuable fish. The Fur Institute of Canada (FIC) has presented a proposal to the Canadian Federal Fisheries department to slaughter 140,000 grey seals over five years in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence to control their population (70 per cent of the grey seals that frequent the area). The proposal also includes a plan to create new markets to sell seal products.

Please support this campaign and help make a difference. The seals should not be culled to improve fishing yields or to create a new market for their carcasses.

A plan to protect commercial fishing with a grey seal cull would encourage the marketing of various products, including seal penises.
