Dear Hypatia Day supporters,
We are celebrating the third in row Hypatia Day = Women-in-Science Day.
The end of the last year saw the surge in the number of supporters of this petition; now it stands at 1,582-vote mark, with voters from 63 countries.
It is interesting that there is a competing initiative, of which I learned a month ago:
http://www.un.org/en/events/women-and-girls-in-science-day/
On December 22, 2015, the UN resolution A/RES/70/212 announced the Women and Girl's Science Day to be celebrated on February 11.
While the UN initiative is commendable, the date, February 11, is not linked to any memorable event in Women's history (or Science history) and must be replaced by March 20 (the Vernal Equinox day according to Alexandria's local time until 2050).
This is the major point of our petition.
