ETHELIA RUIZ MEDRANOPetition StarterEthelia Ruiz Medrano is a specialist in Mexico´s Indigenous community’s local politics and agrarian perspectives from the sixteen century to the Present, for this she combines archive research with ethnographic field work. She is a full Professor at the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico. She holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Seville, Spain (1990) and a postdoctoral in Anthropology from the University of Bonn, Germany (1996). She was awarded in 2001 by the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC) as the best young scholar in Social Sciences. Invited Professor at the History Department at Harvard from August-December 2010. She was recipient in 2006 of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship for the Latin American and Caribbean Contest. Ruiz is author and co-author of 11 scientific books among them: Mexico’s Indigenous Communities: Their Lands and Histories, 1500 to 2010, Boulder: University Press of Colorado, 2010, (paperback 2011.
