It's been too long! While there haven't been big announcements lately, work has been continuing behind the scenes and headway is being made.
I just wanted to update you on a couple things.
1. The Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction is holding consultations for the provincial Poverty Reduction Strategy. This is a chance to tell them about what it making it hard for you to climb out of poverty.
Having attended a few of the consultations, the issue of the spousal cap and insufficient PWD rates is continually mentioned, and there is no doubt the Ministry is well aware of it.
2. Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, is soon meeting with other members of government specifically to discuss the spousal cap.
The issue is out there and government is thinking about it, so don't lose hope and keep trying to raise awareness how you can!
