Campaign to restore TSSA Democracy

TSSA Conference in Cardiff this year was an opportunity to resolve the many internal conflicts that have quickly emerged following the election of our new General Secretary. Many branches submitted emergency motions, and there was a clear majority in favour of hearing the challenges to the decisions of our Executive Committee.  All these challenges were ruled out of order by our President. A further suspension of a leading activist who had just been elected as a Trustee of our union was announced, and many delegates and observers to conference were prevented from attending conference.

There remains no sign that our leadership will tolerate democratic challenges, and no indication that any attempt has been made to resolve our TSSA staff’s legitimate dispute. Our union will not survive if democracy is denied, and we pledge to:

2 Stand by those that are being victimised by our current leadership
3 Support our TSSA staff represented by the GMB in their current dispute
