People Opposing Woodhurst Incinerator started this petition to Cambridgeshire County Council

If this proposal goes through, it will create irreversible change in our communities forever.

SAY NO. SIGN THE PETITION.

Envar proposes to build an incinerator that will burn up to 12,000 tonnes of medical waste, making it one of the biggest incinerators in the country. Waste will be brought in from counties across the East of England and the purpose of the incinerator is to create enough heat to burn their composting waste.

However, WE don't want it, The UK doesn't need it (let alone the local community), and there ARE alternative options available.

We are against this proposal as incinerators pollute our air and have been shown to release cancer-causing toxins. We do not want our family, neighbours, children in our community, even our pets to be breathing this in daily.

As well as this, Somersham Road and the McDonald’s roundabout are already congested areas and we do not need more lorries on these roads as they cannot handle what we already have.

We have residents, farmer’s produce, a raptor foundation and other businesses along Somersham Road who would be affected, even go out of business, by this being built causing huge financial and health concerns. Envar also cannot guarantee the local produce or animals will be safe from their toxins entering our food chain.

We already can smell this area from St Ives and surrounding villages. Often known as ‘poo corner’ or ‘smelly corner’. Do we really want hospital waste such as body parts, blood and syringes being burnt close by?

Our Fenland landscape would be ruined by this being built as it will be seen from miles away and illuminated at night. Not a great sight for us to see nor visitors to our lovely area!

Please help us fight this by adding your name to this petition, which we will present to the Cambridgeshire County Council, who will decide whether the proposal goes through or not.
