On the 22nd of June 2020, Priyamvada Gopal took to her personal twitter account and tweeted “I’ll say it again. White Lives Don’t Matter. As white lives”. On the 25th of June 2020, another (now deleted) tweet from Gopal stated “Now we have the opportunity to carry out a resolute offensive against the whites, break their resistance, eliminate them as a class and replace their livelihoods with the livelihoods of people of colour and LGBTQ.”

This dangerous rhetoric is not only racist, but is a clear and consistent incitement of hatred from a teacher at the top of the UKs education institution. 

We demand that Cambridge University cuts all ties with Gopal, to maintain their integrity as an education institution that works to educate and not discriminate.

It is disappointing that Cambridge university took a stance to defend Gopal, and instead criticised attacks responding to the original tweets.
