Make Harvard Sq more pedestrian friendly

Make Harvard Sq more pedestrian friendly
The Issue
Cities all over the world are starting to give their streets back to the people by making them more friendly to pedestrians. This has been a huge success and has increased the happiness of residents and visitors of cities throughout the world.
One recent example is New York City closing off parts of Broadway to traffic and making it pedestrian and bike only. Residents and tourists alike love the once overly crowded area a lot more. So do businesses in the area who now have an increasing amount of foot traffic and a more vibrant area surrounding their place of business.
Harvard Sq in Cambridge is a central attraction for both residents and visitors alike. It's the hub of business and community activity. But it also can be dangerous and overcrowded because so many people are attracted to the area.
The City of Cambridge and Harvard University should follow other cities across the world's lead and convert the center of Harvard Sq near the T stops (from Church St to Brattle and JFK streets along Mass Ave) to be only for pedestrians and bikes and not for cars.
If lots of other cities throughout the world can do it, why can't Cambridge?
Let's let Cambridge and Harvard know that the people want to take back their streets and tell them to convert the heart of Harvard Sq to only pedestrian and bike traffic for a more vibrant and happy community area.
