Lower the grade boundaries for CIE IGCSE 0500 and 0522

The Issue

As many of you know; the examination on May 3rd 2016 by Cambridge for courses 0500 and 0522 was exceptionally difficult, thus following on with their reputation to produce difficult and misleading IGCSE examination papers; this has to stop, with last year' students being outraged with the exam they were given, it seems as though Cambridge do not care for their candidates. Unfortunately, candidates were bewildered as to how to accurately answer the questions asked in the examination paper Cambridge produced for May 3rd 2016. Cambridge should now reap the consequences of the difficult exam paper by lowering the grade boundaries sufficiently, yet we are still to here from them.

By signing this petition you're name and signature will be added on to the following letter which will be addressed to Cambridge International Examinations.

Dear Cambridge International Examinations,

I would first like to make my intentions clear, I am writing to you in hope that you will lower the grade boundaries for the following courses; 0500 and 0522. These courses are notorious for giving hard examination papers for IGCSE, last year there was a similar outcry because of the difficulty and misleading nature of the exam paper which was given to millions of students across the UK; this caused havoc amongst many student forums such as 'The Student Room' and resulted in many of the students simply being demoralized to continue with their IGCSE/GCSE exams. At such a pivotal moment in a student's life this should not be the approach they take to exams and as your exam was in early May it was the first exam taken by many students; leaving them stressed and worried about the results in their English Language and Literature IGCSE and not having the strength or courage to continue with the rest of their exams.

There are similar petitions about this with one already amassing over 8500 signatures.

However there has been no response from yourself or anyone who represents you. I think I speak for all of the students who took the exam; you should not ignore your own candidates. You should address our concerns with the up most sincerity, in order for us, the candidate and student, the ones who take your exams annually, to have some confidence in you, the exam board.

I hope you respect our concerns and do your best to reparate the damages done on May 3rd 2016.

I look forward to receiving your reply,

Many thanks,

A student who took your exam.
