This year, the year 9s of Camberwell high school had to spend their time in the E-Centre: a building designed for a "Collaborative learning environment". However, this comes with its downsides. One of them in particular is the small locker space. The lockers come with little to no space in them, only enough for one school bag and a few books, however the school bag cannot be full or it will not fit in the locker. The lockers do not normally lock under these circumstances. These lockers are locked with keys as well, which means that if students forget their keys or lose them, there is no way to get in your locker, except for one. The teachers and staff charge $1 for unlocking a locker for the day and $10 for cutting a key on site. This is a blatant rip off, as these keys can be cut for $2.50 at Bunnings, which means that people can exploit these keys and unlock others' lockers. To top this all off, if people leave their lockers unlocked because they cannot fit everything in it, their bags will be forcefully taken by the staff, to which they can only retrieve them at the end of the day. The so-called "Punishment" for this is moving to a locker outside of the E-Centre. I would be okay with this punishment, however most of the classes are in the E-Centre. This is why I have started this petition. Although it is reasonable for staff not to fix it immediately, we do not want future generations to go through this problem, so I am proposing that Camberwell high school upgrades the lockers by this holidays.
