The Issue

We, the undersigned, are calling on NBC to remove Kelly Clarkson from the upcoming live shows of The Voice and decline to invite her back for future seasons following her controversial public attack on Brooklyn small business Art of Play.

Yes, we're talking about a mechanical bird named Molly. Somehow, this innocent little creature has managed to cause more drama than an entire season of reality television. Honestly, give Molly her own show at this point.

After a disagreement over the bird, Kelly decided to take her grievances to her millions of social media followers. Because apparently, when you're a multimillionaire celebrity and don't get your way, the obvious next step is to turn a small business into your personal public relations punching bag.

What followed was considerably less entertaining. Art of Play reported harassment, threats, and genuine concerns for its employees' safety. All over a bird that doesn't even know it's famous.

Now, Kelly absolutely has the right to complain. The rest of us do it all the time. We just tend to complain to our friends, or write a review on Google and Yelp and call it a day before inevitably returning six months later. What most of us don't have is an audience of millions ready to turn a minor retail disagreement into an international incident.

Meanwhile, Art of Play is left dealing with the fallout while Kelly continues collecting her television paychecks, sitting in her big red chair, and carrying on as though Mollygate was merely a brief inconvenience between commercial breaks. How lovely for her.

The Voice is supposedly about mentorship, professionalism, and respect. Surely those values ought to extend beyond contestants who can belt out a Whitney Houston song.

So, we're asking NBC to consider giving Kelly a little time away from the big red chair. Perhaps she could use the break to reflect, discover the joys of supporting small businesses, or finally find a bird willing to go home with her.

Will NBC actually remove her? Probably not. Will this petition send network executives scrambling into emergency meetings? I wouldn't cancel your afternoon plans. But hey, stranger things have happened! A mechanical bird has already managed to become a national entertainment controversy.

Sign the petition. Stand with Art of Play. Demand accountability.

And if we manage to collect 2 signatures, I'll personally consider it a historic landslide victory for Molly and the entire animatronic bird community.
