Under the banner of Defend South Africa, we, the undersigned citizens of South Africa, call for President Cyril Ramaphosa's immediate resignation.

The ascendence of Cyril Ramaphosa to the presidency has been characterized by corruption right from within the ANC in 2017 when he was elected the president of the ANC using more than R1 billion to allegedly bribe delegates.

His administration from 2018 to now (full 7 years) has been characterized by corruption with the Phala-Phala scandal being the worst to have ever hit a South African president. To make matters worse, the economy has been in recession since 2019, and the thorn of illegal immigration, and foreigners taking over the informal economy has only worsened. 

His failure to address these pressing issues has led to widespread frustration and loss of confidence in his ability to lead South Africa forward.

Reasons for This Petition:

1. The Adverse Findings of the Public Protector on the CR-17 Campaign Funds and the Report by the Section 89 Independent Panel – The findings regarding the CR-17 campaign funds and the Section 89 Independent Panel's report raise serious concerns about allegations of money laundering, crime and corruption which have never been addressed. These issues have severely eroded public trust in the presidency.
 

2. Foreign Nationals and Economic Policies – The government's decision to allow foreigners to continue operating spaza shops while selling expired and poisonous products killing our children. The easing of visa requirements for Nigerian nationals while the government is failing to deal with drugs, prostitution and human trafficking. These decisions have been implemented without consultation with the people.
 

3. Rising Unemployment and Economic Recession

The persistent economic recession and record-high unemployment rates are glaring indicators of policy failure. Under your leadership, millions of South Africans have lost jobs, and the economy remains stagnant, with little sign of recovery. Your administration has not demonstrated the urgency or competence needed to address these crises.

4. Crime & Lawlessness – South Africa is experiencing alarming levels of crime, including violent attacks, robberies, and gender-based violence. The government has failed to implement strong policies to improve safety and security for all citizens.
 

Our Demand:

Given these reasons, we believe that President Cyril Ramaphosa should have become a president in the first place. He is a deeply compromised person who will only lead our country to further decline, suffering, and instability. We demand his immediate resignation and call for new leadership to restore hope, economic stability, and effective governance.
