Call to Senate: FMLA Special Circumstances

Call to Senate: FMLA Special Circumstances

The Issue

I am calling out to ALL POLITICIANS all over the world to help make changes to FMLA laws for parents that have lost children as well as their siblings.

DeAndre's Law will provide parents and their working living children better bereaved relief, by having their jobs protected, when they have lost their children or sibling; when FMLA is not available or entitled because of the length of time on a job. Most jobs require that you work 12 months or 1250 hours like here in the state of Georgia, however, if you do not qualify for any of those benefits, your job is not protected, unless you use your PTO (personal time off), or take a medical leave without pay.

I am proposing that Lawmakers include an amendment to FMLA laws across the board for bereaved parents and working siblings, that includes up to 12 weeks of FMLA job protection, with or without pay. Allow these families time to grieve and allow them that time to transition back to work and be able to juggle work/home life. Allow them to seek counseling and whatever is needed to adjust the now reality of not having their child, or brother or sister.

Unlike pregnant moms and dads, bereaved parents do not automatically qualify for 12 months of FMLA Leave Entitlement. Legislation is not looking at that most of these parents have other children that will need counseling and mental health counseling, to deal with the loss. So, why can't we have that entitlement as well? These parents not only worry about themselves, but their other living children as well.

I am asking you all to sign this petition and support me with approaching Senate...again..with the help needed to make at least, a parent's job, the last of their worries. HELP ME HELP YOU!!!!
