Call To International Intervention: Justice for Keneni Adugna

Call To International Intervention: Justice for Keneni Adugna
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling on international human rights bodies—including the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights—to immediately intervene in the case of Keneni Adugna Wako, a young Ethiopian woman who died under suspicious and violent circumstances on March 10, 2024.
Keneni was a brilliant engineer, a model, and an inspiration to many. Her death was initially labeled an accident, but witness accounts, photographic evidence, and contradictions in the official reports suggest otherwise.
Despite public concern, no transparent investigation has been conducted, and those who may be responsible have not been held accountable.
🚫 Media Ban Raises Alarming Questions
In a disturbing development, the Ethiopian court has banned media outlets from reporting on Keneni’s case. This media blackout:
Prevents public scrutiny
Suppresses journalistic investigation
Violates the public's right to truth
Further silences a woman whose voice was already taken
We ask: What is being hidden? Why silence the press in a case that demands answers?---
✊🏾 We Demand:
1. A neutral, international investigation into the death of Keneni Adugna Wako.
2. Full access to all case documents for her family.
3. Accountability for all individuals involved in obstructing justice.
4. Immediate lifting of media restrictions surrounding her case.
5. Legal reform to address gender-based violence and ensure justice for women in Ethiopia.
---
🕊️ Why This Matters
Keneni’s story reflects a much larger pattern: when justice is delayed, truth is denied. Her case shows what happens when systems fail to protect women and silence those who speak out.
We will not be silent.
We demand truth. We demand justice. We demand international intervention.
