Call to Action, NJ Government Officials.
The Issue
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: NEW JERSEY MUST PROTECT ITS ANIMALS
The disturbing reports surrounding Gone Rogue Girls Rescue in Browns Mills, New Jersey, demand immediate attention. More than 70 dogs reportedly listed as euthanized, incomplete euthanasia records, questionable adoption documentation, the reported euthanasia of Astraea, a deaf and blind puppy, and the reported shooting death of Biggy Smalls raise serious questions that deserve independent investigation and answers.
Closing a rescue does not close the case. Every animal must be accounted for, relevant records must be preserved, and credible allegations must be thoroughly investigated. No organization entrusted with vulnerable animals should operate without meaningful oversight, transparency, and accountability.
I demand that New Jersey officials take immediate action to:
Conduct independent investigations into reported animal deaths, euthanasia records, adoption practices, and financial accountability where warranted.
Strengthen animal rescue oversight, inspections, recordkeeping, and enforcement.
Establish clear, enforceable standards for euthanasia decisions, adoption documentation, and animal transfers.
Impose meaningful consequences when animal protection laws are violated.
Create transparent reporting procedures and protect those who report suspected animal cruelty or misconduct in good faith.
Laws without enforcement are empty promises. Oversight without accountability is meaningless. And animal protection without action is failure.
New Jersey must stop reacting to tragedies after animals have suffered or died. We need stronger laws, independent oversight, effective enforcement, and real consequences—not excuses, silence, or empty assurances.
I call on the Governor, state legislators, Attorney General, county prosecutors, and animal welfare authorities to respond in writing, identify the agencies responsible for investigating these concerns, and explain what concrete legislative and enforcement measures will be taken.
Our animals cannot speak for themselves. We must speak for them—and demand action until their lives are protected by more than words.
MAKE NEW JERSEY A LEADER IN ANIMAL PROTECTION. PURSUE THE GOAL OF BECOMING THE NATION’S THIRD NO-KILL STATE, WHILE STRENGTHENING OVERSIGHT, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND HUMANE OUTCOMES FOR EVERY ANIMAL.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. ANIMAL LIVES MATTER. NEW JERSEY MUST PROVE IT THROUGH ACTION.
