Despite the seriousness and volume of these complaints, no comprehensive national public inquiry has ever been launched, and questions have been raised surrounding the transparency, independence, and effectiveness of existing oversight mechanisms.

These unresolved issues continue to affect athletes, coaches, officials, clubs, and communities across Canada who rely on the sport and safe, fair, accountable governance. A transparent, independent public inquiry is urgently needed to properly examine systemic practices, restore trust in members and taxpayers, and bring true change and accountability.

Purpose of the inquiry:

A National Public Inquiry would provide a secure and credible forum for athletes, families, coaches, officials, and other stakeholders from across Canada to present evidence, share firsthand experiences, and raise concerns without fear of retaliation or reprisal. It must be conducted by genuinely independent and trustworthy parties, with the authority to examine governance structures, complaint-handling processes, oversight mechanisms, and the actions or inactions of those in positions of authority.

Such an inquiry should include a thorough examination of documented incidents and verifiable evidence related to systemic governance failures, organizational negligence, maltreatment, and potential corruption. This level of scrutiny is essential to achieving transparency, identifying accountability gaps, and implementing meaningful, long-term reforms that strengthen participant safety and ethical governance in Canadian amateur boxing.
