The Issue

A group of 54 adjacent property owners to the proposed Prologis site formally submitted a request for a 1 year moratorium to the City of Shelbyville Common Council. The purpose of the request is to ensure the development of setbacks, safety standards, emergency response protocols, property protection and environmental safeguards on any future development application that would include a data center and Battery energy storage systems.  That request was denied by the Common Council president on Friday, Feb 13 2026. The council president stated “given the addresses of the participants and families represented, this matter would be more appropriately directed to the County Council”. However, Shelbyville and Shelby County’s lack of ordinances regarding future development are non existent and the discussion should begin with the City Common Council and the Shelby County Board of Commissioners.

THE ASK OF YOU!

If you live within the CITY limits and are seeking more guardrails that will protect future development in our community…PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION. Help us show our city common council that the citizens of the CITY OF SHELBYVILLE respectfully request a 1 year Moratorium.
