“Came across this disturbing photo from the University I graduated from. What troubles me the most is that this is not the first racist encounter that has happened at SAU. What troubles me even more is that when things like this happen, little is done about these incidents. It's brushed off and not confronted. This is wrong and hurtful. And should not be taken lightly. Spring arbor University claims to encourage and promote equality and even makes a statement in the handbook stating " individual dignity is damaged by prejudice, racial or ethics slurs, gossip, unsubstantiated statements, the willful misrepresentation of the truth and the use of intimidation or physical force. Indignities against the human sport will not be tolerated on our campus community". Spring Arbor University is choosing not to abide by their handbook and is allowing this discrimination to continue on campus. And as a result of their lack of punishment towards the student, minorities can and will continue to feel unsafe, neglected and, mistreated. If Spring Arbor University decides not to pursue a more intense disciplinary action then Spring Arbor University is condoning this racist statement and act. I have even reached out to the University about this photo and received no response. So as a former student of SAU, I challenge them to do better and to do what is right. Spring Arbor University”
