The Issue

Urgent Request for Change: Dorsey College – (PN & RN Programs)

I completed the PN program at Dorsey College in February 2025. It has now been almost a year, and I have yet to receive my transcripts. This delay has severely impacted my ability to complete the NCLEX application process, despite having met the required benchmarks. My requests for written communication regarding the so-called 'improvement plan,' which supposedly addresses individual student concerns, have gone unfulfilled, leaving me in a constant state of uncertainty. I have since met the benchmark and it has been inconsistent what my next steps are. I was told to retest prior to receiving clearance although already exceeding the benchmark.

The issues are not limited to just my experience. Many students have voiced concerns about the lack of clear, consistent, and standardized exit  protocols within the PN and RN programs at Dorsey College. It is imperative that the administration addresses these issues to ensure student success and fairness.

We respectfully request the following actions to improve transparency, fairness,  student success, and timely communication from Dorsey College. within the PN and RN programs.

Protocols should be clear, consistent, and standardized, including a comprehensive exit and clearance process documented in writing, even if changes occur. Publicly accessible policies are essential to prevent confusion and ensure all students know their rights and obligations.

Standardized Exit & Clearance Process. Implement a clear, fair, and uniform exit process for PN and RN students that outlines objective criteria for program completion and eligibility for state testing. Students should not be denied progression or testing eligibility based on subjective, inconsistent, or newly created requirements. Prohibit the creation or tailoring of exit requirements on a case-by-case basis that may delay or prevent students from beginning their nursing careers without clear, documented justification.

Address understaffing and excessive staff workloads to ensure students receive appropriate instruction, guidance, and academic support.

Conduct an impartial review of professionalism, bias, ethics, integrity, and truthfulness within the PN and RN programs to ensure a fair and respectful learning environment for all students.

Establish a formal, transparent process for student concerns, appeals, and grievances that includes student representation and protects students from retaliation.

Initiate a formal review of program operations and administrative practices to ensure compliance with ethical standards, educational best practices, and student rights.

Establish and enforce standardized academic and clinical protocols that are applied consistently to ALL students without exception.

Professionalism must be maintained, and any bias within the administration should be addressed to foster an equitable learning environment.

We call on Dorsey College administration, program leadership, and appropriate oversight bodies to take these concerns seriously and act promptly to address them. Nursing students deserve a transparent, ethical, and supportive educational environment one that prepares them for licensure and professional practice without unnecessary or arbitrary barriers.

Student success and integrity of the programs should be the top priority. We urge all stakeholders, current and former students, and concerned citizens to join this cause by signing this petition. Demand better for present and future nursing students at Dorsey College.

By signing this petition, you are standing with current and future PN and RN students in advocating for fairness, accountability, and meaningful student representation. Your support helps amplify student voices and encourages constructive change that will strengthen the integrity of the nursing programs at Dorsey College (Roseville).

We urge Dorsey College to engage in open dialogue with students, conduct a formal review of program practices, and implement the necessary reforms to ensure students are treated with respect, clarity, and equity throughout their educational journey.

Together, we can help create a learning environment where students are supported not discouraged on their path to becoming nurses.
