In the face of medical emergencies, residents like myself are forced to drive past the once fully functional Louth County Hospital and endure a 35-minute journey to Drogheda Hospital. This situation is not only inconvenient but also poses a serious risk to the health and well-being of the entire community.

Louth County Hospital has played a pivotal role in providing healthcare services to the local population. Its closure has resulted in longer wait times and overburdened medical staff at Drogheda Hospital, amplifying the stress on an already strained healthcare system. According to recent health reports, the average waiting time at Drogheda has increased significantly since the closure of Louth County Hospital, prolonging the distress of patients in need. Furthermore, residents without personal vehicles find themselves in particularly precarious situations, relying on limited public transport options.

The restoration of Louth County Hospital could alleviate these challenges, ensuring that health services are evenly distributed and accessible to all. It is vital for the government to recognize the urgent need for additional healthcare facilities in our rapidly growing town. We propose a reopening of Louth County Hospital with a phased approach: initially providing essential services and gradually expanding to a comprehensive range of medical offerings as staffing and resources are secured.
