Call on CR Aitken to resign his position as Burnie City Councillor

Call on CR Aitken to resign his position as Burnie City Councillor
The issue
Cr Aitken's recent actions of hate speech, bullying and anti discrimination on social media are not in line with the Councillors code of conduct or councils policy for respectful Councillor Behaviour. Cr Aitken is bound by both of these as well as upholding legislation such as the anti discrimination act.
We the undersigned:
A) Call on Cr Aitken to resign his position as Burnie City Councillor, effective immediately upon tabling of this petition to Burnie City Council,
AND
B) Request Burnie City Council put to the Local Government Association (LGAT) and the Tasmanian Government that the Minister of Local Government have the ability to dismiss a Councillor for breaching the anti discrimination act.
Cr Aitken has numerously posted hate speech on social media regarding minority groups that live amongst the Burnie and Tasmanian Community. Cr Aiken's posts are harmful to the community they are targeted at and are discriminatory. The time to act now, with suicide rates amongst the LGTBQI+ community growing larger and larger, we need to act now to help protect these communities from discrimination by people in power. We can do this by showing support and compassion. We need to act on behaviours such as: discrimination, hate speech, intimidation and bullying from individuals in power within our communities. We need our leaders to lead by example.
Thank you.
