CALL ON BUFFALO COMMON COUNCIL TO PASS A CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION

The Issue

Palestinians living in Gaza are being killed at an unprecedented rate. Over 25,000 Gazans – including at least 8,500 to 10,000 children – have been killed. Over 300 medical workers and over 100 journalists have been killed. Proportional to population, the death toll in Gaza is the equivalent of about 3.1 million American deaths. In addition, over 60,000 Gazans are wounded, and over 7,000 are missing under the rubble.

The people of Palestine deserve freedom and safety. We believe that calling for a permanent ceasefire is just one step to liberating Palestinians. We also believe that Buffalo can and should play our part in spreading this message.

This month a resolution will be presented to the Buffalo common council members in hopes that will join the over 50 American cities who have passed a ceasefire resolution. With over 4 million in Buffalo taxpayer dollars going towards Israel's crimes, we believe that Buffalo citizens have every right to demand our money be divested from this genocide.

We call on our common coucilmembers, asking that they use their authority to support our federal government :

1.Call for an advance a full, immediate, and permanent ceasefire, along with urgently needed humanitarian aid as a necessary step towards lasting peace.
2.Support an end to U.S. military funding to the State of Israel, and an end to U.S. tax dollars contributing to humanitarian catastrophe and loss of life.
3.Ensure the release of thousands of Palestinians hostages held without cause and trial in Israeli military prisons.
4.Ensure the release of all Israeli hostages
5.Support the end to the relationship between the Israeli defense forces and the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.
