In March, a staggering 95% of Republican primary voters expressed their will by voting in support of Proposition 10, advocating for a ban on Sharia law in Texas. Despite this overwhelming mandate, our Republican governor, Greg Abbott, along with the Republican-led Texas Legislature (TxLege), have not taken action to address this crucial issue. At the same time, disturbing trends are emerging that suggest a paradigm shift against the voters' preference — a shift led, in part, by Governor Abbott’s ties to significant financial contributions from groups outside the ethos of Texas' traditional values.

As a Texan deeply concerned about the increasing imposition of Sharia law and the broader Islamization of our treasured state, I am alarmed by the rapid emergence of mosques throughout Texas, proliferating by the dozens every year. Even more concerning is the fact that Governor Abbott's largest campaign donor in the past year was a Pakistani Muslim who contributed over $10 million. These actions raise questions about whom the Governor truly represents if he can prioritize substantial donations over the explicit desires of his constituents.

It's imperative that we hold our leaders accountable. As citizens, we must demand Governor Abbott call a special legislative session dedicated to banning Sharia law in our state. We must remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring our laws reflect the will of the people — the majority who desire to maintain Texas’ core values and cultural integrity.

We propose clear steps for the Governor: Firstly, acknowledge the majority’s plea by calling a special session focused solely on Proposition 10. Secondly, implement transparent measures to ensure Texas law stands above religious laws that do not align with our state’s constitution. Lastly, establish a task force to assess ongoing societal shifts that might overshadow Texas’ foundational values.

This is not just a political issue; it’s about preserving a way of life. We are urging fellow Texans to recognize the urgency of this matter. Stand with us in demanding immediate action from Governor Abbott.
