It's been reported by Jimmy Lai's daughter Claire that his father's health is quickly deteriorating in prison, which he has been confined for almost five years, even before being convicted of anything.

According to Claire Jimmy has gone through immense weight loss, his finger nails are bruised and seemingly near dropping off and is visibly seen shaking in court. His health is so bad that the prison has to cancel one of his periodic meetings with family.

Claire has publicly called for her father's release and claimed Jimmy will be made a martyr if he dies in prison. She further stated that if Jimmy is released he will leave Hong Kong and live the rest of his life beyond politics.
