Jimmy Lai Chee Ying, founder of media enterprise Apple Daily and freedom and democracy activist, is now on trial under the Hong Kong National Security Law, imposed by Beijing.

We all know what sort of political party the Chinese Communist Party is and that they will do anything to crush any voice of dissent. If Jimmy Lai is found guilty, which is very likely, he will probably die in prison.

I recently saw an interview of Jimmy Lai's son, Sebastien, who is fighting for his father's freedom, on BBC. At the end he says, "as a nation [the UK] we didn't stand up for one of our bravest when it mattered."

I am starting this petition because I don't want to be the one who didn't stand up when it mattered. Please sign and show Beijing the voice of the people won't be silenced.

最近看了BBC訪問黎智英兒子的片段，他最後說了一句，「如果黎智英被判有罪而死在獄中，就證明了我們作為一個民族沒有為我們其中一個最勇敢的人站出來。」

我不希望自己是其中一個袖手旁觀的人，所以發起這個petition，或許實際作用不大，但我相信每個人微小的信念是能影響大局的，還有我們每個人各自的良心，簽個名，至少你能告訴自己你盡了一點綿力。
