Petition Calling for the Resignation of the Superintendent

To the School Committee and District Leadership:
We, the parents, guardians, students, staff, and members of the community, are calling for the immediate resignation of the Superintendent in response to the ongoing and unacceptable failures surrounding our district’s transportation system.

Our children deserve to arrive at school and return home safely, reliably, and on time. What families have experienced with the current bus situation falls far short of that basic responsibility.

We have witnessed and experienced:

Buses failing to show up, leaving children stranded or forcing families to find last-minute transportation.
Serious concerns regarding the safety and preparedness of some bus drivers.
Poor, delayed, and inconsistent communication from the district when transportation problems occur.
Families being left without adequate information about whether or when their children will be picked up.
Repeated transportation failures that have created unnecessary stress, confusion, and safety concerns for students and their families.
A lack of confidence that the district has an effective plan to prevent these failures from continuing.
This is not simply an inconvenience. This is a matter of student safety.
Parents and guardians should never have to wonder whether their child's bus will arrive, whether their child will be transported by a qualified and safe driver, or whether the district will communicate with them when something goes wrong.

The Superintendent is ultimately responsible for providing leadership and accountability for the district. When a transportation system repeatedly fails students and families, leadership must be held accountable.

The continued failures have left many families with the strong and reasonable impression that the safety and well-being of our children are not receiving the priority they deserve. Our children are not a logistical problem to be managed—they are our responsibility, and their safety must come first.

We therefore call upon the School Committee to:

Demand the Superintendent’s resignation due to the ongoing failures in transportation leadership and oversight.
Conduct an immediate and transparent review of the district’s transportation operations, including driver qualifications, training, supervision, and safety procedures.
Provide families with clear, timely, and reliable communication whenever transportation disruptions occur.
Establish a concrete plan to ensure that buses actually arrive as scheduled and that students are never knowingly left without safe transportation.
Hold district leadership accountable for continued failures and publicly report the steps being taken to correct them.
We are asking for accountability—not excuses.
We are asking for transparency—not silence.

And above all, we are demanding that the safety of our children be treated as the district’s highest priority.

If district leadership cannot consistently provide safe transportation, reliable service, and meaningful communication to the families it serves, then it is time for new leadership.

We call for the Superintendent’s resignation and demand immediate action to protect our children.
