I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with all of you!  Thanks to your support and the power of this petition, deer crossing signs have been installed at both ends of “Jail Hill.”  This is a direct result of our collective efforts to raise awareness about wildlife safety along Highway 16.  It may seem like a small change, but it’s a meaningful one, and it brings us one step closer to making the highway safer for both wildlife and drivers.

This progress means so much to me, especially after witnessing countless wildlife fatalities, including the heartbreaking moment when I stayed with a deer in its final moments after being struck by a car.  It’s a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come when we unite for a common cause.

But this isn’t the end - we still have more work to do.  My next goal is to advocate for increased lighting along this 3 km stretch of the highway to further enhance safety.  Even a few strategically placed lights around the bend could help prevent more wildlife fatalities and also protect drivers.

Thank you all for your unwavering support!  I’m hopeful that with continued momentum, we can keep making a real difference and create a safer road for all!
