Hello Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who has signed and posted/ shared the petition! You have all made a big difference in reaching our first major benchmark of 12,500 signatures!  Now, we are raising our goal to the next level of 26,000 signatures!  I know that we can accomplish this too as Mike Lee continues to be the subject of a lot of bad press.  Let's keep up the good work, share and promote the petition online any where you see someone mention his name.  Drop a link in the comments and repost the page, we are seeing great success with this method of sharing. 

Today is the day that we sent letters to 12 US Senators asking for the censure and expulsion of Senator Mike Lee.  The senators that we sent letters to are Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator John Curtis - UT, Senator Bernard Sanders - VT, Senator Elizabeth Warren - MA, Senator Amy Klobuchar - MN, Senator Tina Smith - MN, Senator Thom Tillis - NC, Senator Susan Collins - ME, Senator Rand Paul - KY, Senator Lisa Murkowski - AK, lastly and  very least Senator Mile Lee himself.  These senators were chosen for their leadership role in the senate, their weakness in their republican seat and or their friendly ear. 

The call to action for this update is to copy and paste the included text into a letter and either email or send a physical letter to each of them with your name and signature to their offices.  The way that you can address a letter is:

Dear Senator [Smith],

I am a signatory of a petition titled “Call for Resignation of Mike Lee for Betrayal of Constituent Trust,” which has garnered over 12,940 signatures from concerned citizens across Utah and our nation. This support reflects a collective demand for accountability and integrity from Senator Mike Lee, whose actions and rhetoric have repeatedly betrayed the trust of his constituents and the American people.  

The petition’s premise is clear: Senator Lee’s conduct—especially his online behavior and public statements—has contributed to a decline in public trust, undermining the principles of effective governance and responsible representation. Recent updates and comments from signatories reinforce the urgent need for action, particularly considering Senator Lee’s recent remarks on X (formerly Twitter) following the tragic violence committed by Vance Boelter in Minnesota. Lee’s comments, which effectively politicize a devastating event, have only deepened the divide and negatively impacted public discourse during a time many citizens see as a national crisis.  

Moreover, Senator Lee’s habitual and toxic presence on social media platforms exemplifies a dangerous trend of using online platforms to spread divisive rhetoric rather than fostering constructive dialogue. Such behavior is not only unproductive but also harmful to the fabric of our nation’s peace and stability. The recent opinion piece from The Guardian, “The Minnesota shootings illuminate the character of the Trump Era” by Sidney Blumenthal, published on June 21, 2025, underscores how hypocrisy and reckless online conduct by political figures like Lee perpetuate a toxic political climate. Blumenthal’s analysis highlights the importance of holding leaders accountable for their online behavior and the consequences of neglecting their official duties.  

Please note that many of Senator Lee’s constituents feel wronged by his focus on social media engagement at the expense of his responsibilities. Instead of prioritizing legislation, community engagement, and constituent services, his online antics and inflammatory comments divert his attention from the work he was elected to do.  

The initial purpose of the call for Mike Lee’s resignation was to publicly highlight his behavior and to urge him to voluntarily step down in recognition of the betrayal of his constituents’ trust and the damage he has caused to public discourse. However, due to his recent online comments on social media following the Minnesota shootings and the violence committed by Boelter, as well as his lack of a meaningful public apology, we believe his conduct has escalated to a level that warrants immediate action from the Senate. Therefore, we are now demanding that the Senate take decisive steps to censure and expel Senator Lee, holding him accountable for his harmful online behavior and the erosion of trust he has inflicted upon the American public.

Given the growing number of signatures on the petition and the clear evidence of his detrimental impact on public trust and national peace, we strongly urge you to consider initiating proceedings to formally censure and expel Senator Mike Lee from the United States Senate. His actions threaten the integrity of our democratic institutions and the safety of our nation.
