We want to express the depth of our concern for the recent changes at Sentebale, a backbone of direct assistance to HIV/AIDS affected and infected children in the SADC region. The decision to replace the old Sentebale board of trustees and its co-founders, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Prince Seeiso, Prince of the Lesotho Kingdom, with Dr. Sophie Chanduaka has deeply shaken us. As an organization, YASA NPO in South Africa, we are deeply involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, advocacy, awareness, disease management as well as entrepreneurship training & skills development. We feel a strong camaraderie with the work Sentebale does in serving these vulnerable children. 

However, these recent changes have created a strong disquiet among us and the communities we serve & the SADC region at large. Sentebale has a proven strong track record with its leadership by its original board and co-founders. The impact of their work has resonated throughout the region and provided hope for the future to many affected children.

In light of this, we urge and petition Dr. Sophie Chanduaka to resign from Sentebale, so the old Sentebale board of trustees and its co-founders – Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso can be reinstated. Reinstating the old board ensures the continuation of the invaluable support Sentebale provides to HIV/AIDS affected children in Lesotho.
