I wanted to let you know that we now have 402 signatures on this petition. Thank you so much for your support! I also wanted to let you know that I’ve made some small amendments to the wording in the title and description:

• The title has changed from "Permanent closure of the South Circular Road" to "Permanent restrictions of the South Circular Road”
• The phrase "residents only" has been updated to "local access and residents only”
• The phrase “This decision to make these amendments were made without consultation with Limerick Citizens “ has been changed to  “This decision to make some of these amendments were made without consultation with Limerick Citizens  
• The phrase “It appears that these amendments were pushed through by a majority of councillors, many of whom are not familiar with our community's daily rhythms and needs, and living in the locality.” has been changed to”It appears that some of these amendments were pushed through by a majority of councillors, many of whom are not familiar with our community's daily rhythms and needs, and living in the locality.”

Some people were understandably upset by the use of the word closure. While that may reflect the experience for non-residents and local access road users, I want to ensure the language is as clear and fair as possible for everyone.

In addition, I’ve since learned that some of the changes made towards the lower end of the South Circular Road were, in fact, subject to consultation with residents. This raises further concerns as to why there was no similar consultation regarding the junction at Summerville and the South Circular Road.

I hope you're happy with these updates as someone who supported the petition.
