It’s been just one week since this petition launched, and the response has been incredible. Hundreds of local residents have spoken up, clearly voicing their concerns about the amended South Circular Road Active Travel Scheme.

The recent Part 8 amendments, passed without proper consultation, we believe will cause significant disruption: blocked roads, redirected traffic, and increased congestion near schools and homes. People are frustrated not just by the potential impact, but by the way these amendments were introduced, without clear or timely communication.

This week, we met with councillors and members of the Active Travel team. The turnout was overwhelming and made it clear: the community wants answers and action.

This week I’ve taken the following steps:

Submitted a request to the Office of the Planning Regulator (OPR) to investigate the process behind the scheme’s amendments.

Written to the Minister for Transport, highlighting concerns about a possible misuse of the Part 8 planning process and calling for a review.
