The Request for Breast Density patient letter has been updated.

The images are provided by DenseBreast-info.org - a medically-sourced website and the reason it now has the DB-I logo. I am the European Education Coordinator for DB-I.

Here is the link to the letter. http://bit.ly/2UC08tq - shown above.

If you would like to request your breast density:

1.  Print the letter.
2.  Complete with personal details.
3.  Research name/address of screening hospital/clinic for envelope - if you require help - contact me.

Knowing about breast density allows a woman to have informed conversations with doctors and other health professionals, perhaps discussing additional screening options. It can, potentially, be a life-saving piece of information.

The letter (approved by imaging experts) has been ‘trialled’ in the UK with mixed responses.

1.  Understandably, some women with clear mammograms have been keen to know their density. Some have received the information, determined as having dense tissue and have been referred by their GP for further screening.

2.  Some women have received further screening (ultrasound).

3.  Some women (with dense breasts) have been refused further screening (as not guidelines) but have decided to pursue a private scan.

Last week, the European Society of Radiology (EU International Affairs dept in Brussels) showed their support for our Breast Density Education initiative. More discussed planned in Vienna in March.
