Call For North Miami To Amend Food Truck Regulations

The Issue

My name is Lucy Francois and this year my mom decided to take a huge step towards owning a restaurant someday: operating a food trailer. Her business started 3 years ago as a catering business during COVID and she built a following of about 10K followers during this time. Upon opening the food trailer, everything was great (at least we thought so) until it wasn't. Other food truck operators began calling the police and filing complaints on us because they were forced out the city of North Miami and were questioning why we were still in operation, rightfully so. We were eventually forced to shut down our operations which is an extreme inconvenience as my family livelihoods were at stake. My dad, out of faith, quit his job of over 10 years to aid my mother in operating the food business. And now we are back at the drawing board.

Zoelady Cooks is practically a community staple at this point as we have already fed multiple North Miami city workers like policemen for instance. In addition to this, we provide to the homeless when we're able to. Food trucks are super convenient and offers more options to those within the commuinity. The city of North Miami must RELAX food truck zoning regulations as it's primarily affecting minority owned businesses. Not everyone is capable of owning some big shot restaurant and sometimes we have to start with something smaller to attain our bigger dreams.

Signing this petition not only helps Zoelady Cooks, but it helps other food truck businesses aspiring and present to reach their dreams. We call on the City Of North Miami to review and amend Ordinance 1469 in relation to Mobile Food Dispensing Vehicles and where said vehicles can operate.
