Back in 2022, I volunteered to help the Marie Perez campaign, and appeared in a commercial and in mailers, representing Veterans supporting Marie. As a USCG Veteran, I felt Marie’s message of not falling into political traps was a breath of fresh air. 

Since winning the seat however, she has consistently slid further and further into MAGA territory. What was once an appeal to her conservative constituency, is now a full fledged endorsement of Trump and Musk. 

I do not wish for Kent, but given her voting record this session, I’m hard pressed to find any difference. We didn’t vote for Kent and MAGA. We voted for sanity and someone who would stand up against authoritarianism.

I also understand that this petition does not bind anyone to any action. However, if we can build enough momentum, hopefully our current Representative will finally stand up and represent. If not, our only recourse lies in replacing her as our candidate in the next election.
