The Issue

As a British citizen with a Filipino family, I hold a deep and meaningful connection to the Philippines. During the Duterte administration, I was actively involved as one of the unofficial bloggers. In light of my involvement and personal ties, I am deeply concerned about the current situation of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

We urge President Bongbong Marcos (BBM) and the Philippine government to reach out to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to negotiate the interim release of former President Duterte. Given his age, recent weight loss, and declining health, humanitarian grounds must be considered.

The proposal is for President Duterte to be either released to a Philippine embassy overseas or allowed to return to the Philippines. Interim release would allow him access to familiar surroundings and the care necessary for his health concerns.

President Duterte served the Filipino people with dedication. His administration made significant contributions to national progress, and now, as he faces challenges in his personal health, he deserves compassion and assistance.

Let us combine our voices to advocate for his interim release on humanitarian grounds. By signing this petition, you help send a strong message to President BBM and the Philippine government to act and provide the necessary humanitarian consideration for former President Duterte's case. As I would hope and expect the government to support any Filipino nationals overseas in detention.

Sign this petition and help ensure that compassion and humanity prevail. Your signature is crucial in making a difference today.
