Call for Immediate CQC Action at North Tees – Protect Patients Now

The Issue

The Issue

Experiencing a traumatic labour at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust was a life-altering event for me and my baby. What should have been a safe and joyous occasion turned into an ordeal due to serious failures in care. Sadly, our experience is not isolated.

Numerous patients have come forward with similar stories, revealing a pattern of systemic failures within this Trust that jeopardise patient safety and violate basic standards of care.

We urgently call on the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to conduct an immediate inspection of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust in light of these serious concerns, and to take all necessary regulatory action — including placing the Trust into Special Measures if an inadequate rating is found — to protect patient safety.

Why?

Patients report preventable harm, neglect, and delayed treatment.

Evidence shows repeated failures in staffing levels, hygiene, and medical responsiveness.

CQC inspection data highlights consistent breaches in safety protocols and governance.

These are not isolated oversights, but signs of deeper systemic problems that demand urgent attention.

A prompt CQC inspection would bring essential oversight, identify areas of unsafe care, and, if needed, enforce strict action plans and leadership changes capable of restoring trust, ensuring safety, and upholding the quality of care every patient deserves.

This is about saving lives and protecting future patients from avoidable suffering.

We urge the CQC to take the following steps :

✅ Immediately review the Trust’s management and safety protocols through an urgent inspection.
✅ Take all necessary regulatory actions to enforce accountability and improvement, including Special Measures if warranted by inspection findings.
✅ Ensure transparent and lasting reforms for the sake of all patients.

Please sign this petition to call for immediate action from the CQC. Together, we can hold this Trust accountable and help prevent further harm.
