آنَ لنا أن نتعلّم من تجاربِنا وأن نرفض لغةَ الانقسامِ والتحريضِ
يمرّ اليوم بلدُنا الحبيبُ لبنان بأصعب لحظاتِه وأكثرِها حساسيّة في ظلّ الحرب الإسرائيلية على لبنان: مئاتُ الآلاف أُجبروا على ترك بيوتهم وحقولِهم ومصادرِ رزقِهم، يحملون ما استطاعوا من ذكرياتِهم، وينتقلون إلى خيامٍ ضيّقة أو إلى قاعاتِ مدارسَ وجامعاتٍ، بحثًا عن أمانٍ بسيط وبعض الطمأنينة.
آلافُ الشهداءِ والجرحى، وجرحٌ مفتوحٌ في قلوبِ عائلاتِهم وأحبّائهم، وشللٌ عامٌّ يهدّد حياةَ اللبنانيين، وسط قلقٍ متزايد على المصير والغد. والأخطر أنّ هذه الحربَ تُشكّل مادّةً للتشرذم والتباعد بين اللبنانيين حول أسبابِها ونتائجِها.
إنّها لحظاتٌ تستدعي أقصى درجاتِ اليقظة والمسؤوليّة. لا يكفي معها أن نصفَ ما يجري، بل علينا أن نحدّد موقفَنا: هل نترك الخوفَ يقودُنا إلى مزيدٍ من الانقسام، أم نختار، بوعي، التمسّكَ بالأمل والعمل لحماية ما تبقّى من بلدِنا ومجتمعِنا؟
في خضمّ هذا الواقع المؤلم، قد نختلف في السياسة وفي تقدير ما جرى، لكن ليس من حقّنا أن نختلف على إنسانيّتِنا، ولا على مستقبل بلدِنا، ولا على حقّ أولادِنا في حياةٍ أفضل. ولا يمكن أن نكون على الحياد حين تُنتهك القيمُ الأساسيّة ويدفع المدنيّون ثمن الصراعات. فلبنانُ الذي نريده لا يُبنى بالخوف ولا بالتحريض، ولا بإقامة الجدران التي تعزلُنا بعضَنا عن بعض، بل ببناء جسورِ التلاقي، وبمساندة المتضرّرين، وبكلمةٍ مسؤولة، وبإرادةٍ مشتركة تحمي الاستقرار وتفتح باب المصارحة والمصالحة.
وعليه، نحن كجمعيّاتٍ تعمل على بناء السلام وتعزيز العيش المشترك، إلى جانب شخصيّاتٍ مدنيّة وسياسيّة، نعلن بوضوح: لبنانُ لا يحتمل المزيد من التوتّر، ولا خطابَ التحريض، ولا الاستقواء بالهويّات الضيّقة. فقد جرّبنا المراهنة على الحروب، ولم تجلب لنا سوى الدمار؛ اقتتل بعضُ اللبنانيين فيما بينهم، وقاتل بعضُهم عن الآخرين. ولا يجوز أن نعيد فتح الجرح نفسه، أو أن نُلدغ من الجحر ذاته مرّتَين. لذا نُطلق النداء:
لسنا على حيادٍ حيال ما يتعرّض له وطنُنا لبنان من عدوانٍ مستمر. فلنكن مع الدولة في حسم خيارَها بحزمٍ في الدفاع عن الوطن وبسط سلطتِها على كامل الأراضي اللبنانيّة بواسطة قواها الذاتيّة، ضمن دولةِ القانون والمؤسّسات والعدالة وتكافؤ الفرص.
نشدّد على وحدة اللبنانيين وعلى نهائيّة لبنان، الوطن السيّد الحرّ، المستقلّ عن أي وصاية والمتحرّر من أي احتلال. لبنان الواحد والموحّد أرضًا وشعبًا ومؤسّسات، ضمن حدوده المنصوص عليها في الدستور اللبناني والمعترف بها دوليًّا.
إعلاء الهويّة الوطنيّة اللبنانيّة فوق كلّ الهويّات الجزئيّة، والعلم اللبناني فوق كلّ الرايات، ضمن دولة العقد الاجتماعي، القائمة على القانون والمؤسّسات والعدالة والإنصاف التي تطمئن الجميع وتمنحهم حقوقهم وتحرص على أداء واجباتهم دون أي تفرقة أو تمييز.
رفض كافّة أشكال العنف بين اللبنانيين مهما بلغت درجة الاختلاف، ورفض التحريض الطائفي والتحريض المضاد، والتخوين والتخوين المضاد، ورفض خطاب الكراهية ولغة الفرز والتصنيف، وتشجيع التفكير النقدي، وإطلاق كلّ مبادرة تحمل صوتًا عاقلًا، وكلمةً تُهدّئ، ولغةً تُقرّب، وإرادةً جامعة تضع كرامة الناس وأمنهم في مقدّمة الأولويّات.
لا يمكنُنا القبول بتقويض القانون الدولي الإنساني، الذي وُضع لحماية الإنسان، ولا سيّما المدنيين والصحفيين والطواقم الطبيّة وكلّ من هو خارج دائرة المواجهة. فالدفاع عن هذه المبادئ ليس موقفًا سياسيًا، بل التزامٌ أخلاقي وإنساني لا يمكن التراجع عنه.
دعوة الإعلام بكافّة قنواته إلى تحمّل مسؤوليّته في احترام الحريّات العامّة، وفي طليعتها حرية الرأي والمعتقد، واحترام السرديّات المتباينة والتشجيع على الحوار بين أصحابها، ورعاية واحتضان ونشر المبادرات الجامِعة والإضاءة عليها.
احتضان النازحين والنازحات وكلّ من أُجبروا على ترك بيوتهم، والجرحى والثكالى والأيتام، والعمل على تخفيف معاناتهم والتعاطف معهم وتقديم كافّة أنواع الدعم المادي والمعنوي والنفسي لهم.
طرق كلّ باب ممكن: أبواب السياسيين، رجال الدين، الإعلاميين والإعلاميات، المثقفين والمثقفات، الجمعيات والمبادرات، الشخصيات المدنيّة والسياسيّة والتربويّة والفنيّة، النقابات والجامعات والمؤسّسات التربويّة، للانضمام إلى هذا النداء والتعامل معه كميثاق شرف.
نتوجّه إلى شباب وشابات لبنان، طلابه وعماله: لبنان الغد هو مجال عيشكم وعملكم وإبداعكم. فلتكن لديكم الشجاعة والوعي لعدم الانجرار إلى خطاب الكراهية والتجييش.
نتوجّه إلى كافّة الجمعيات والهيئات في بيروت وسائر المناطق، للتأكيد أنّ مسؤوليّتَنا لا تقتصر على الاستنكار أو التضامن، بل تمتدّ إلى منع الانزلاق نحو الهاوية وفتح نافذة أمل حقيقيّة.
أخيرًا، يا رجال ونساء لبنان، يتزامن هذا النداء مع ذكرى الثالث عشر من نيسان 1975، ذكرى اندلاع الحرب الأهليّة الأليمة، التي تقع علينا مسؤوليّة التعلّم من دروسها وعدم تكرارها.
فليكن إيماننا واضحًا: ما يجمعُنا أكبر، وحماية بلدِنا تبدأ بقرارٍ بسيطٍ وعميق — أن نبقى إلى جانب بعضِنا البعض. فلنأخذ هذا القرار معًا.
An Appeal on the Anniversary of April 13
It is time to learn from our past and reject the language of division and incitement.
Today, our beloved Lebanon is going through one of its most difficult and sensitive moments amid the Israeli war on the country. Hundreds of thousands have been forced to leave their homes, lands, and livelihoods, carrying what they can of their memories, and seeking minimal safety and reassurance in cramped tents or school and university halls.
Thousands have been killed or injured, leaving open wounds in the hearts of their families and loved ones. A general paralysis threatens the lives of Lebanese people, alongside growing anxiety about the future. Most dangerously, this war is becoming a source of fragmentation and division among Lebanese over its causes and consequences.
These are moments that demand the highest levels of vigilance and responsibility. It is no longer enough to merely describe what is happening—we must define our position: do we allow fear to drive us toward further division, or do we consciously choose to hold on to hope and work to protect what remains of our country and society?
Amid this painful reality, we may differ in politics and in our assessments of events, but we have no right to differ over our shared humanity, over the future of our country, or over our children’s right to a better life. Nor can we remain neutral when fundamental values are violated and civilians bear the cost of conflict. The Lebanon we seek is not built on fear, incitement, or walls that separate us from one another, but on building bridges of encounter, supporting those affected, speaking responsibly, and upholding a shared will that safeguards stability and opens the path to truth-telling and reconciliation.
Accordingly, as organizations working for peacebuilding and the promotion of coexistence, alongside civil and political figures, we clearly declare: Lebanon cannot withstand further tension, incitement, or the mobilization of narrow identities. We have already wagered on wars, and they have brought us nothing but destruction; Lebanese have fought one another, and some have fought on behalf of others. We must not reopen the same wound, nor be bitten twice by the same snake. Therefore, we issue the following call:
We are not neutral in the face of the ongoing aggression against Lebanon. Let us stand with the state in decisively affirming its choice to defend the nation and to extend its authority over all Lebanese territory through its own institutions—within a framework of the rule of law, strong institutions, justice, and equal opportunity.
We emphasize the unity of the Lebanese people and the finality of Lebanon as a sovereign, free, and independent homeland—free from any tutelage and liberated from any occupation; one and unified in its land, people, and institutions, within its constitutionally defined and internationally recognized borders.
We call for elevating Lebanese national identity above all sub-identities, and the Lebanese flag above all other banners, within a state grounded in a social contract based on law, institutions, justice, and fairness—one that reassures all, guarantees rights, and upholds duties without discrimination.
We reject all forms of violence among Lebanese, regardless of the depth of disagreement; we reject sectarian incitement and counter-incitement, accusations of treason and counter-accusations, hate speech, and the language of division and categorization. We encourage critical thinking and support every initiative that carries a voice of reason, a calming word, a unifying language, and a collective will that places people’s dignity and safety at the forefront.
We cannot accept the undermining of international humanitarian law, established to protect human beings—especially civilians, journalists, medical personnel, and all those outside the scope of hostilities. Defending these principles is not a political stance, but an ethical and humanitarian commitment that cannot be compromised.
We call on the media, across all platforms, to uphold its responsibility in respecting public freedoms—foremost among them freedom of opinion and belief—while respecting diverse narratives, encouraging dialogue among them, and supporting, amplifying, and shedding light on unifying initiatives.
We call for embracing the displaced, the wounded, the bereaved, and the orphaned—everyone forced to leave their homes—by alleviating their suffering, showing solidarity, and providing all forms of material, moral, and psychological support.
We urge knocking on every possible door—those of politicians, religious leaders, media professionals, intellectuals, civil society organizations and initiatives, civil, political, educational, and cultural figures, syndicates, universities, and educational institutions—to join this appeal and treat it as a code of honor.
To the youth of Lebanon—its students and workers: Lebanon’s tomorrow is the space of your lives, work, and creativity. Have the courage and awareness not to be drawn into hate speech and mobilization.
To all organizations and bodies in Beirut and across the regions: our responsibility does not stop at condemnation or solidarity; it extends to preventing a descent into the abyss and opening a genuine window of hope.
Finally, people of Lebanon, this appeal coincides with the anniversary of April 13, 1975—the painful outbreak of the civil war—whose lessons we are responsible for learning and not repeating.
Let our conviction be clear: what unites us is greater. Protecting our country begins with a simple yet profound decision—to stand by one another. Let us make this decision together.
