Call for Condemnation of ICE raids from Kansas Senators

The Issue

ICE raids have been ineffective in their mission and arrested multiple United States citizens. Furthermore, these ICE raids are eerily reminiscent of the early days of the Holocaust. Adults and children alike are being arrested and hypothetically deported, numbering in estimates of twenty million. It is impossible and irresponsible to deport any large numbers of these illegal migrants back to their home countries as these countries cannot infrastructurally or economically re-integrate such a number of people. Legislation in the Mississippi State Government indicates that the true intent is to have these arrested migrants perform unpaid labor while waiting for an unforeseeable deportation date. It is not
economically viable to remove any large number of workers from essential industries. The Mississippi House Bill 1484 advocates for the use of “bounty hunters” who will be paid to turn in illegal migrants who will perform unpaid or low-cost leased labor. The Laken Riley Act
puts into action the first steps of rounding up perceived “undesirables” at immense cost to the American taxpayer. This turn of events is immoral and reprehensible.

I call upon Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall to officially condemn the use of ICE raids. We implore them to keep our economy in mind and our community's safety. We ask them to continue to champion the American Principles of fair trials, due process, and equal opportunity.
