The Issue

We are calling for Cllr Ian Woodall to resign following his conduct at the Redditch Borough Council meeting on Tuesday 13 January.

During the meeting, as witnessed by many residents via the council webcast and in the chamber, Cllr Woodall directed the term “Nazi” at a member of the public and made a gesture that residents widely viewed as unacceptable and offensive. Regardless of any provocation or later disruption during the meeting, language and gestures of this nature have no place in public life.

Councillors are elected to represent the community and are expected to uphold high standards of conduct, respect the public, and set an example. This incident has caused significant upset and concern among residents, and it has undermined confidence in the council and in those who serve it.

We ask Redditch Borough Council and the relevant standards and monitoring processes to treat this matter seriously, and we call on Cllr Woodhall to do the right thing and resign.

What we are asking for

Cllr Ian Woodall to resign as a councillor

A clear public acknowledgement that this behaviour is unacceptable

Appropriate action through the council’s standards process to maintain public trust

Call to action

If you believe residents deserve respectful leadership and higher standards in public office, please sign and share this petition.
