Call for Clarification from Minghao on the Use of a Remix with an Islamic Hymn.
The Issue
As a devoted Carat and a fan of Minghao, I have always admired his artistry, creativity, and dedication to music. His performances have consistently inspired me and many others around the world. However, a recent issue has deeply affected me and many Muslim fans within the Carat community, and we believe it deserves attention and clarification.
The concern is about the use of the song “Where R U Going?” by Mat Weasel in his performance. This track includes elements from an Islamic nasheed, which holds deep religious significance. Before using such a remix, it is important that the meaning and background of the content are properly understood. As an artist, Minghao should have been aware of what the song contained before choosing to use it, especially when it involves religious elements. He could have chosen a different track to avoid causing unintended harm.
As a Muslim carat, I have personally tried to raise this concern. I have commented on Weverse and written a letter asking for clarification, yet there has been no response. Many fans have spoken up, but the continued silence from both Minghao and Pledis has made us feel unheard.
No matter how much we love and support Seventeen, it is important to say this clearly: no one has the right to disrespect any religion, whether intentionally or not. As fans, we always show respect, love, and support to our artists, and in return, we expect the same level of respect for our beliefs and values.
We are not spreading hate or trying to create negativity. We are simply asking for accountability, understanding, and open communication. We respectfully request a clear clarification from Minghao and Pledis regarding this issue. Acknowledging this concern would help rebuild trust and show respect towards the diverse global fandom.
We hope this matter is addressed sincerely so that mutual respect and understanding can continue to grow within the Carat community.
Please join us in signing this petition to encourage Minghao and his team to provide a much-needed clarification about this song's usage. Together, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and understanding fandom.
