Call for an outdoor pool or natural swimming pond in Waltham Forest

We love Waltham Forest, but it is sorely lacking a place, where residents can enjoy and an outdoor swim and paddle to cool down and have fun in summer.

There used to be two lidos in the borough, but now there isn't as much as a water fountain for children to play in.

Especially with so many new flats being built in the borough without gardens, an outdoor swimming and paddling pool or natural swimming pond would allow all Waltham Forest residents to make the most of the hot summers, which are on the rise as well as enjoy outdoor swimming all year round.

Open water swimming has seen a huge rise in popularity and having a facility would help Waltham Forest's residents to exercise, stay healthy and enjoy living in this borough.

With so many lakes and green spaces locally (including The Wetlands), we call on The Borough of Waltham Forest and/or The Corporation of London to find a spot to build a lido or establish a natural swimming pond, like the ones on Hampstead Heath, the Serpentine, or the new swimming lake about to be established in Lewisham.

There are grants available (such as Lottery grants) to fund the building work and an entrance fee could be charged to cover the running costs.
