Call for an audit of West Athens Elementary School in Los Angeles for safety and justice
The Issue
My four-year-old child was a victim of a horrifying incident at a local LAUSD in West Athens Elementary in Los Angeles, CA, where they were inappropriately touched multiple times by a staff member in the restroom. Despite raising this alarming issue with the principal, who assured me of actions to apprehend the perpetrator, no measures were taken. My case, alongside others, was dismissed due to 'lack of evidence', revealing a troubling pattern of negligence and possibly an attempt to shield offending members of their faculty.
Countless other parents have reported similar incidents ranging from bullying to physical and sexual assault, only to find their concerns swept under the rug. The stark lack of accountability and transparency is appalling, and it is high time that the institution's failures are brought to light.
It is devastating to think that innocent children who are supposed to be in a safe learning environment are instead subjected to trauma and abuse. No family should have to endure the pain and stress that we have, and the school's apparent attempt to protect its own staff over its students is unacceptable.
To ensure no other child has to suffer any form of misconduct and that justice is duly served, it is imperative to conduct an independent and thorough audit of the school's administration and faculty. This will help uncover the extent of these issues, hold the guilty accountable, and implement effective measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.
I urge you to stand with us in demanding this investigation. An audit is not only a step towards justice for my child and countless others but also a necessary move to rebuild trust between families and educational institutions. Sign this petition to raise our voices against this grave injustice and to safeguard the future of our children in West Athens.
